Will my nails go yellow?

Getting acrylic nails done on wednesday. I will then be going on the sunbed for a few days this week (dont normally use them but going away sunday) will they turn my nails yellow. Is there anyway to avoid thisWill my nails go yellow?
If the acrylic is not UV stabilised it can turn yellow under the sunbed lights. When you get your nails done ask your therapist if its UV stabilised or ask for a UV topcoat. A lot of tanning salons sell UV topcoat but some just offer globs of vaseline to cover your nails with.

No, nails do NOT need to 'breathe.' They are made of dead keratin cells. When was the last time you heard of something that was dead having a need to breathe, LOL! Besides, nails do not have lungs, or gills. And they don't exahange oxygen with carbon dioxide either. That is breathing...Nails don't 'breathe.

To answer your question, if you get really cheap nails - which are typically made from inferior acrylic products, then there is a good chance that they will yellow - sunbed or no sunbed. They will most likely tellow because of the crappy products they use in the cheap nail salons.

However, if you go to a higher end nail salon where they use top quality acrylic products - then your nails should be just fine. Acrylic product quality has a lot to do with whether they will yellow - or not, and also with how long they will last. Good products also look a heck of a lot better on your nails than the cheap stuff does.
no they shouldnt go yellow, staining by foots etc causes nails to go yellow or some diseases of the nails etc.

when you have your nails done do not let them file them using an electic file as it takes off too much of the nail and you can end up seriously damaging the natural nail and when the acrylics are removed it can cause very sore nails and infections if not careful.
The other day I read in the teenage girl magazie 'shout' , the story of a girl who got acrylic nails done and after a few days her nails started hurting so badly and that some chemical dissolved her nails off. so make sure that before you get your nails done you check whether they're using MMA or methyl methacrylate. but i don't know whether they'll go yellow...ask the beautitian.
I麓ve never hear of anything like that.

no it didnt hapen to me when i got mine done and i live in the south of spain right on the beach.
probably not but don't use sun beds you could get cancer or you'll end up all wrinkly.
i never knew that nails may go yellow cos of that
nail body needs to ';breathe';..if not the get yellow!

it sounds like you have a fungal infection under your toenails where the skin lies, you need to see a doctor, there is a medication that treats this and you should notice results in about a week, you could also talk to a pharmacist for more details.
That is almost always a fungal infection of the tissue underlying the nail bed. There are some good prescription medications for it; talk with your doctor about getting one.
IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE A FUNGAL PROBLEM. BEST IF YOU SEE A DERMATOLOGIST
eww fungus jkjk see the doc hope it works
I've been told you can cure the fungus by coating them with Vicks vapor rub every night. It takes a while.
First see your Dr. you may have a nail infection that can be treated with either an oral antibiotic or a topical.

Second, take care of them! Get regular pedis- a beauty school usually can do them for a cut rate by students who are learning - and they are generally just as good as if it was done by a pro salon. :)

Good luck
It's a fungal infection. You need to get on meds in order to get rid of it. Unfortunately, pulling them out won't help. They'll just grow back the same way.
go take a chainsaw to those nasty azz thangz. i bet they look like petrified potato chips!!!
There's a medication that you take by mouth called Lamisil. You take it for 3 months and your toenails fix themselves!! It's quite amazing. But you need a prescription from your doc. :)

My yellow finger nails......liver problems??

ok so my finger nails are yellow. i do wear red polish...did this do the yellowness? or could it possibly be liver problems in which i have had abnormal liver enzymes lately and have chronic stomach and lower back problems? im a mess.....any answers would maybe give me somewhere to start looking............no smart asses please :)My yellow finger nails......liver problems??
I tend to agree with ';Ashley';. Nail polish, no matter what the color, can stain and yellow fingernails. Remove the polish and soak your nails in a bleach/water solution - 10% bleach, 90% water - for 10-15 minutes every time you manicure your nails. And, like ';Ashley';, I strongly recommend you use a base coat first to prevent future problems.

I can't address your other problems due to inadequate information and your nail problem is probably not a disease issue. My yellow finger nails......liver problems??
Red or dark nail polish can definitely cause nails to turn yellowish, it happens to me all the time! By using a base coat underneath it will help minimize the yellowness.
see a dematologist, they specialize in nails too.

Yellow toe nails?????

What causes it and what can i do to make it go away???Yellow toe nails?????
Fungus, needs medicine.

In the US, some 90% of yellow thick toe nails is caused by a underlying fungus called onychyomycisis. This is usually deep in the nail tissue, sometimes in the nail bed. As such, ordinary topical medicines will not work well.

In recent years, doctors have taken to prescribing a pill form of lamisil for 4 week to 6 month periods to kill this fungus. This works some 80% of the time. Why so long? Well, like I said, it's deep in the tissue. Now, if your doctor wants to try this, you should get regular blood tests, since sometimes the medicine damages the liver. Some doctors will try the lamisil empirically [ie -- a s test trial] but others will insist on growing fungal cultures first.

What doctors often don't tell you is to kill lingering fungus in your shoes as well. Wear only clean scoks, and clean your shoes by placing 2 tablespoons of chlorine bleach in 1/2 gallon warm water. Dip a white cloth in this, wring it out, and wipe the insides of all your shoes once a week, being careful to air dry before wearing them again. This reduces the risk of re-infection.

There was a study done about 15 years ago, and if you can't see a docotr you can try to self treat. Get the over the counter lamisil cream, and rub it in the nail bed 3 times a day for 12 weeks. This works about 50 to 70% of the time.

Once the fungus is dead, it takes 6 to 12 months to get decent looking toe nails again.

Granted, there are medical conditions that cause nasty toe nails, but really you need to see a doctor if the nails are really really nasty looking.

Good luck.Yellow toe nails?????
Sounds like fungus...
its caused by fungus under the nail, there are lots of expensive remedies, bit if you hold a hairdryer on high heat at the nails infected for 15 mins once a week it will clear, it does work not sure how but it does, you have to cover your other nails and toes with a towel , and watch you dont get burned..it causes the bacteria to die away with the heat ..takes about two months to grow the new clear nails

Sometimes they are just stained from nail polish if you are not using a base-coat. But most likely it is a nail fungus under your nails. Doctors will give you a pill to take to get rid of it. Over the counter medicines are hard to use since it needs to get under your nail. You may have picked it up anywhere if walking around bare foot. What? yellow toe nails?
eeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr your diseased:P lol only jokin every ones nails are like that if you dont cut them or if u had nail varnish on for a while
you could have a fungus but it's unlikly unless you go to a salon and sometimes their equipment isn't cleaned properly. But you probably had a dark nail polich on so your nails have sucked that up. Don't put any polish on them for a while and you can lighlty buff or file them this will help a little bit.

How to prevent yellow color on your nails?

If you smoke, stop.Put a coat of clear nail polish or a nail polish base coat before putting on dark, bright colours onto the nail. Its best to wear a base coat under any nail polish though. How to prevent yellow color on your nails?
Sally's does make a nail whitner that you buy in a tube and it comes with a nail brush and you can scrub your nails with that ...

I also sometimes add a small amount of bleach to my dishwater when I do dishes that helps the nails and it helps the dishes as well :)

Also, you can buy the stuff you soak dentures in and drop two tablets in warm water and soak your nails in there ....and take your nail brush and give them a scrub every now and then but soak them for about 10 or 15 minutes this should help...those are the things I have tried and do work for me and they are not expensive at all especially the bleach ....

Skip down to the nail section which is under Skin info.
You're either not putting a base coat on your nails before the colour or your drowning your cuticles with the nail polish. You should leave thin gap between your nail and the cuticle and go without nail polish 1 day a month so they can breathe.

  • Nails stained yellow from polish?

My nails are stained slightly yellow and I think it's from polish. I don't have any infection or anything and I look after my feet but I sometimes wear dark polish. Polish remover won't remove the stains and so I was wondering if you knew anything that would? Thanks xNails stained yellow from polish?
Well, I used to get that too but then I started using a clear base coat under my colored polish and it stopped discoloring my nails. Sally Hansen makes a great one that can also be used as a top coat to make your polish last longer. I think it's called something like ';Double Duty'; (Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart) for under $5.00. Good luck!Nails stained yellow from polish?
First, get a small bowl of water, add a splash of hydrogen peroxide and soak your nails for 10 minutes. This will mildly (and very gently) bleach away the discoloration. Then to get those harder-to-get-to stains, grab a nailbrush and some whitening toothpaste and rub briskly across your nails for a few minutes before rinsing with water.
it's normal, it's from the polish, let your nails breathe for a while and it should get better. Or try getting a professional pedicure with a light colored polish, they should be able to fix it. Good luck
I would always get that from red nail polish. I would just paint them a different color and the nixt time i took off that color it would be gone. Nothing really seems to take the stain away. Good luck!
All you need to do is leave your polish off for a while. You will see the stains but eventualli it wil go away x

u should always use a clear base coat under any coloured nail polish... this will prevent the yellowing of ur nails... u need to get your nails buffed to remove the yellow.. but i recommend you get them done professionally as you might buff them too much and weaken your nails... alternatively you can check with your local beauty therapist or nail artist and see if they have a nail soak which actually whitens the nail...
Take the paint off and use a new one
try not to apply any polish for some time. also, don't leave a polish on your nails for more than 5 days, else, it will turn your nails to yellow.
I always use a base coat and then apply polish over it.What I also did was that at the end of the day I took the polish off. And when I'm not wearing open toed shoes, don't apply any polish at all. They will get back to the colour they originally were.

nail polish helps but you need more milk
GET MORE CALCIUM!!!!! if u dont like milk much, try it really cold, yogurt, sour cream, etc.
the most usual cause is fungal infection. since nails are practically ';dead'; hardened cells, the best way to treat the infection is not by swabbing them over with all sorts of ';medication'; (quite useless, considering they're ';dead';), but rather by from within. so you take anti-fungal tablets. they may be quite expensive, but you get to treat your nails effectively. also take vit.B complex regularly.

(of course you can always have a dermatologist see them. this is only based from my experience with a close friend who also had them, and had it treated by a dermatologist.)
    Dark nail polish.

Can be an infection, but that's VERY unlikely. If you're young, it's probalby the nail polish.

To prevent: Remove nail polish quickly. Don't leave it on for a week.

This often indicates a fungal infection (onychomycosis). It is most common in toenails and often follows on from athlete's foot.

The end of the nail separates from the nail bed and white, green, yellow or black matter builds up under the nail plate.

Solution: An oral anti fungal medication (terbanifine) is the most commonly prescribed treatment and is successful in around 85 per cent of cases, although it can take up to six months or more to work. Anti fungal creams are less successful as they can be difficult to apply under the nail.Yellow fingure nails? HELP?

Do you use a clear nail polish as a base before you apply your color? That could be why you're staining...
Do you tan? Tanning affects your nails' coloring. I'm a tanner and have a special UV-resistant clear coat put on top of my manicure so that it doesn't get a yellowy tinge to it. The pigments in any nail polish could be enough to affect your natural nail color. Do you use a base coat first? You really should if you don't already. But my biggest bet is that it's from tanning if you're a tanner. If so, you can buy the special top coats to protect them from the UV rays. Hope it helps!
I was about to ask if you smoke but now that's out of the equation...
I think you don't have more proteins and vitamins.Start eating healthy food and which are rich in fiber and calcium.
If u don't use a base coat, even a clear color will cause your nails to turn yellow.

Slight yellow means poor blood circulation. Brownish yellow could means you got fungus.

See a doctor before it becomes worst, also dump all your nail polishes away in case they contain any bacteria or anything harmful.
painting your nails ANY color even clear will cause them to turn yellow. Use Sally Hansen white French Manicure nail pencil and wet the tip, then draw on the inside of your nail and it will turn it white again :)

Find out the cause...could be a fungal infection, for which you will need to see a doc for medication. Could also be discoloration from painting - make sure you use clear base coat to prevent next time - you can put a little bleach on them to whiten them. Mix 1/2 water and 1/2 bleach solution - apply a few times until they whiten:) Good Luck.
get a bowl of water and put lemon juice in it then put your yellow nails(hads or feet) in it and let it soak for bout 10 min.
Try soaking the toe nails in warm water with a false teeth whitening tablet. It helps breakdown the discoloration and bring out the natural color.
that happened to me once and it was from painting them to much .just stop painting them and that should take care of the problem
Use a good buffer. Most of the time that takes care of nail discoloration from polish %26amp; the sun. If it doesn't work, you might want to make sure you don't have fungus. I know someone that puts Vicks on her toes twice a day to get rid of fungus %26amp; it works! If all else fails, just keep painting your pretty piggies!
    bleach it with clothes bleacher
    house paint
alot of times the nail yellows because of the paint on there before especially if it's a dark color or has been on a long time. You can use a nail buffer on the nail just lightly buff it, the yellow is just on the top layer so you don't have to buff much. Make sure you put on a base coat first that helps with the yellowing If you want it to last a long time I love Orly's bonder base coat. It gets stickey when it dries to make the polish last better : ) you can find it at Sally's beauty supply

Yellow toenails means you have toenail fungus. Fungus grows in moist areas (in this case, I'm guessing sweat) and people who have particularly sweaty skin or are athletes and do a lot of running or other sports are prone to it. Lots of people get prescriptions, but you can also try putting tea tree oil on them after soaking them in vinegar. Go to:

some people seem to be forgetting that the nails you're talking about are not your real nails, so why eating healthy would be good for you overall it won't fix this problem.

at some nail salons, they have a special topcoat that can prevent this from happening. or, i don't know what kind of place you go to, sometimes it can depend on the quality of materials being used. so if they are using cheap acrylic nails, then you have a better chance of them yellowing when going tanning.

if none of that works then maybe wait to go tanning until after you get your nails done each time. i don't know how often you go to get them filled or redone, or go tanning, but if you have a pretty good base tan then you should be fine with waiting to tan in between getting new nails.

or even ask your tanning salon. sometimes they'll have special lotions that you could put on your nails to help protect them.

Also glitter glue may turn your nails pinkish...good luck next time :)Nails yellow!!??? HELP!!!!?
The pigment in the darker colors of nail polish is what stains your nails, causing the yellowish stain. The drier your nails are, the more of the pigment they soak up. When you are not wearing nail polish, keep your hands and nails well moisturized. When you want to use darker nail polishes, make sure you use a base coat to prevent the color from the nail polish from penetrating into your nails.just use regular nail polish. put on various LIGHT coats so that the nail can breath through the polish. dont add globbs of it to your nails. Usually only the cheapy ones do it, it used to happen to me. If you use Sally Hansen it probably won't do it. Your nails might be sensitive to centain chemicals in the polish too. Try taking a Q-Tip dipped in nail polish remover that says it will stregthen nails and run it over your unpainted nails as if your painting them. Let the first coat dry and do it again. Then apply a base coat of clear polish to protect your nails. After that drys, paint them whatever color you want because the base coat with protect them! Good luck!

hope i helped x x oh and great choice of colour i LOVE yellow!!
That doesn't happen to me, try using a different brand maybe? It could just be a chemical in the specific ones you've been using.

You can try lemon juice to de-yellow it.
don;t use nail polish for a while

i did that once and it made my nails turn orange....gross i know

just stop using it for a while and it will come out
Cheap dark nail polish usually turns your nails yellow.

The best thing to do is undercoat before you put any nail polish on.

i dont think lighter colours turn your nails yellow.
The dark colors have a darker stronger pigment turning nails yellow, try starting with a base coat next time (:

    mine?

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
i paint my nails black everytime i paint them... your nails will turn yellow from painting them a lot, not because of the color you paint them.

    :D!
any color can do that if you leave the polish on for too long
i allways wear dark nale polish and my nales are not yellow

Is there any way to get the yellow stain off of your finger nails left behind by dark polish....?

You should talk to the person who does your dry cleaning. I mean they are used to getting rid of all the stains I leav...........

ER............I mean the stains they find on your clothes and sheets. Is there any way to get the yellow stain off of your finger nails left behind by dark polish....?
May sound weird, but denture tabs work really well for this.

Get the fizzing kind and plop two in a bowl of warm water, soak your nails until the water gets cold. Repeat this once a day for about 3 days and the stains will be gone. Remember to apply a moisturizer afterwards and massage cuticle oil on your cuticles.

Also always using a really good base coat will prevent this in the future, I recommend orly bonder. Is there any way to get the yellow stain off of your finger nails left behind by dark polish....?
They go away eventually by themselves, but to prevent them you can apply a clear protection polish to your nails, and then after it is dry put the dark polish on over it. this way your nails will not be damaged and the dark polish will stay on longer
Buffing your nails with def remove that yellow stain.

Also to prevent the stain be sure to apply a clear base coat to you nail before putting on the dark color, or any color for that matter.

it protects your nails and makes the color last longer
Soak your nails in lemon juice for 5 mins then buff your nails lightly.

In the future, apply a clear coat of polish (as a base coat) before you paint your nails. Also, look for nail polish with a non-yellowing formula.

    Hope this helps! :)
Im not sure.. but try putting a clear base polish on before you paint them dark and then there wont be a yellowish stain :D
well you could quit smoking that might help, lol

For the past couple of days now, the sides of my nails have been yellow. Anyone know what this might be?

If you're a smoker it's nicotine stains. For the past couple of days now, the sides of my nails have been yellow. Anyone know what this might be?
I would have said smoking, but since you're not a smoker, maybe it's just the nail polish. I've had nail polishes (clear) turn yellow. If you wear nail polish, you might look into buying one that's made specifically to NOT turn yellow!! Good luck!

Also, tanning in a tanning bed causes nails to turn yellow also. So...if you're a tanner, this could be the cause!

I've got yellow stains on my teeth, toe nails, and fingernails; I was wondering what to do?

toe and finger nails: if you put nail polish on your fingers alot, don't do it so much , or if you have a bad habit, like me biting your nails, stop! It could be a fungal infection (nails), but I';m not sure about the teeth. For the toe/finger nails you should see a doctor so that he/she can prescribe an antibiotic.

For those closed minded people who think it is due to lack of good hygene...this type of fungus can be picked up in gym locker rooms/showers.

    dont.

well for the teeth try going to the dentist and get a cleaning if that doesnt work use a toothpast with whitening , for the fingernails and toenails. if you take a qtip and put some bleach on it and rub it on ur nails it will take the yellow out it worked for me. good luck
its not a disease. You're vitimin deficient. You need calcium. Get yourself 500mg calcium tabs take one daily and you'll also want to get yourself a 1000 mg multivitmin taken one a day (which include vitamin B), Improve your diet with more vegetables as well. i paint my nails alot but i dont smoke ....why are they turning so yellow???Why are my nails Turing yellow ???i don't smoke?
It is probably just the nail polish staining your nails. This used to happen to me and the way that I woud fix it is to take a small bowl of water, or fill the sink with a small amount of water and add a tiny bit of bleach. Let your fingers sit in there for only a few minutes. This should bring your nails back to the correct color. Why are my nails Turing yellow ???i don't smoke?
ya ive had this problem too cuz i paint my nails alot and i dont smoke either. well i personally think its because the nail polish is too old or you paint your nails soooo much, its starts to eat your nails away and turn them yellow. i just started putting on new, clear nail polish on first and then putting on the nail polish after the clear one has dried. i dont know if it has started working yet cuz i took it off the next day cuz i didnt like the color of the nail polish so i didnt know the results. but, i think itll work if you do that because the clear nail polish never my my nails yellow!! hope it works
It happens when you paint them too much, if you just chill on the paint for a while they should be ok, but regardless it isn't a horrible thing, nothing to worry about :)
when you hav nail polish on them alot the colors seep in your nails after awhile. what you can do is leave them alone for awhile and when their back to normal apply clear nail polish on before painting a color..
    they aren't getting enough oxygen.

you either have nail polish on all the time and never let them breathe. or you use/work with chemicals that are found in nail polish removers.

    youre fine.
sometimes the nail varnish leaves the nail yellow but it could also be malnutrition.
its b/c theyre not getting enough oxygen

    its ok

    Trauma, fungus, bacteria, or psoriasis

Are there any easy home remedies for yellowing nails?

Acutally, Hydrogen Peroxide is much safer and more effective than bleach. Avoid using brown, orange, or dark red shades of nail polishes. These often have pigments in them that stain nails a yellowish color.

Once you get them white again, figure out what was staining them and make changes to eliminate the cause of the yellowing. Are there any easy home remedies for yellowing nails?

Lemon juice, mine get yellow from smoking
get lamasil [or however you spell it]. it kills fungus, you might have something eating your nails.

    and take vitamins.
You should see your doctor, that is a symptom of a bigger problem. Don't use bleach on your skin its poisonous, try peroxide. But it could be a sign you are low o Iron, or having problems internally.
Stop wearing nail polish, soak your hands in bleach and water mix, and see a doc if all else fails, you may have a fungus
    yeah... start washing ur hands.
soaking in hydrogen peroxide may help - also, seal your nails with a base coat before polishing

My nails are yellow! how to get it normal?

well i usually have nail polish on like all the time but now that i took it off i noticed that they are yellow i thought this only happens to old people but i'm 15!

what should i do?My nails are yellow! how to get it normal?
Stop wearing such dark nail polish, and use a good remover. My nails are yellow! how to get it normal?
uh-oh. it does not happen only to old people. That can lead to a disease thing. trust me. i swear, i had it myself. I wore too much nail polish. your nails turn yellow when your nail's health is bad. nails have to ';breathe'; but it looks like you've been suffocating it. I extremely suggest that you go to a doctor especially if your nail is growing upward leaving space between your nail and skin. When I got it, I had to take a yucky medicine and had to cut my nails VERY short. it looked so yucky. the medicine was so expensive. Some of the possible diseases that you can have include: Yellow Nail Syndrome and Nail Discoloration. hope i helped! take good care of your nails!
Get a manicure they'll be able to treat that.
I think if you put nail polish on all the time it happens I think you better not wear nail polish and see what happens.try not to hide your yellow nails with nail polish i would just pretend it is nail polish!

    I have no idea?? srry!!

R u sure its not ur nail polish?? Hmm..Help!!!! why are my nails yellow?!?!?
Have you been giving your nails a chance to breath between putting on nail polish. If not then I'd take a break from the polish and let your nails recover. But if this is not the case then maybe the nail varnish has stained your nails. I'd suggest next time using that nail polish to use a clear undercoat first so protect your nails a bit. This goes with all dark colours.
yeahhh~. wearing too much nail polish causes your nails to become yellow. this happens alot, but there are solutions to removing the yellow-ness of your nails.

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2034154_whinte-y鈥?/a>

try not to use those techniques too much, because whitening your nails again is equivalent to whitening yout teeth, which means stripping off the outer layer of your nails/teeth.
if you had the nail polish on for a long time it can prevent the nails from breathing properly and it discolours them. if its really cheap nail polish it doesnt have to be on your fingers for very long. just leave your nails unpainted for a week or something and they should go back to normal
Its probably one of the pigments in the nail polish. Either wait for it to fade or grow out or just use a different colour over it to hide it.

serious?.....you could be the new chief of homeland security
Nope, but you should see an MD and take some meds to kill the organisms (anti-fugals)that are causing it! They can treat it you know! OTC anti-fungals are pretty much worthless!
I doubt it.....try fixing the problem...i hear regular minty mouth wash clears them up.....try it.......take care but militaryt would disqualify for flat feet or bad back not toenails.....
Right now the Army will take anybody, HA!! Really It would be a problerm if they hurt wearing combat boots.
    no but thats gross
I don't know about whether the military will take you with your yellow toenails or not. I suspect they would, though, since they're rather desperate these days.

Of course, you could always cure your toenail's problem and then not worry about the question.

As someone said above, you probably have a fungal infection.

It's easy to fix, I did it. You can find out more at:

    http://www.dangerimp.com/toe_fungus.php
nope. you have the nail fungus. get some meds from your doc and it'll go away
You could be chief of the roach brigade and maybe start your own club known as the smelly feet enlistees.....
More than likely they may give you a cream or some medication and tell you to come back after it clears up. They sent a guy home with Q-Tips and told him to come back when his ears were properly cleaned out. He had insanely bad waxy build up tho.
    no.
It's probably just some fungal disease, and you can buy some cream to fix the problem at your local pharmacy.

How do you whiten smoke-yellowed nails?

Less insulting to the skin and nail bed than bleach is a good soak in lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide. Beauty supply stores also carry nail-whitening kits. How do you whiten smoke-yellowed nails?
    get fake nails
    try lemon
toothbrush and smokers toothpaste always worked for me, but i dont smoke anymore, cause i was told i'd lose my leg, so stop smoking if you can x

    DONT SMOKE!!!!! or use bleach
    Stop smoking.
Get a good manicure and get solar nails, they do not turn yellow, even when you tan.

Don't listen to those non smoker losers!!
try scrubbing them with a baking soda/water paste
Hello fellow smoker, and finger nail fanatic!!!! If you use a solution of half peroxide and half warm water, it will take the yellow out of your nails. Bleach actually tends to yellow them more. Soak your hands in the mixture before a manicure or for at least 20 or 30 minutes. It may turn the skin around your fingers white, but this is temporary. I generally do this on a Sunday morning, and by the time I am done cleaning my house or dishes, the white is gone off of the skin and nails look great. That is what they use to whiten teeth (slightly different kind of peroxide).
You could try soaking your nails in bleach.
    try lemon juice
Always carry a packet of wotsit crisps and pretend the yellow and orange stain has came from eating the crisps!

    Wear one glove whilst smoking?
try soaking ur nails in acetone, or just nail polish remover! i heard that works. try getting acrylics on. they shave down the top of ur finger nails before they glue the tips on. it might help.
clip the yellowing nails and use a nail polish to protect your nail when smoking and eventually the yellowing areas that your can't clip away will grow out and they can be clipped this might take a few months though but i hope it helps
I think lemon juice would be the least harsh and maybe you can get one of those holders for when you smoke, then maybe your nails will stay clean, when I used one I gradually cut down and was able to quit - that is if you want to
First of all, stop smoking its bad for you. If you prefer to not to stop smoking you can go to nail salons. They have products that will help you whiten your nails.
I am not trying to be funny this actually worked for my sister go to your foot doctor and ask him what to do. there is a pill for yellow toe nails i think the same can be used for finger nails.
My obvious answer would be STOP SMOKING lol but seeing as you asked us not to - paint your nails a nice bold colour to cover the yellow stains, it should make them look nicer but not make them any whiter, sorry.
    Quit Smoking!
Hi fellow smoker, I know this might sound a bit weird but socking my hands in washing up water everyday has stopped the yellow nail/finger, also what i have been told by other smokers is to lean your elbow on a table so the smoke rises up and don't let it burn to the end of the butt. I hope this helps.

How do u make the yellow stain off your nails?

girls, what can i use to remove the yellow stain off my nails? the stain is really bad after i remove my nail polish.... I rem reading somewhere i can diy using was it vinegar or baking powder or???? i can't rem....can someone help me out???How do u make the yellow stain off your nails?
use a good clear base coat.. 2 coats of nail polish .. and then a top coat. sounds like a lot of work but your nails will never be yellow again! Try buffing your nails with a basic nail buffer. the stains are only on the top layer of your nail. discoloration happens when you wear dark colors and it stains the top nail layer. thats why you have to use a base coat. How do u make the yellow stain off your nails?
I always just use one of those giant nail buffers. You know the kind that has course on one side and fine and finer on the other side. If you just use the extra fine side it takes it right off.

Then buff with the shammy one for the shine back.
    bleach on a q-tip
best thing is to stop polishing ur nails all the time and it will go away.. U should only use 1 time per week the polish remover thingie and for sure u must not have ur nails polished all the time.. they need air =P after u remove the polish leave ur nails natural for a few days..
stop using your nail polish ...i think its not suiting you...i had same prob some time bk
Oooooooh my mum has the same problem!
1st. remove ur nail polish with aceton ar any medical production

2nd.wait 2 or 3 days while ur nails get rest from polishing

3rd. soak your fingers in a solutin of lemon juice without water for 5-19 minutes

4rt. but some hand cream after u wash your hand

do this for a whole week

and notify me if it worked
    use pineapple juice
understand need to give the nails some rest before applying nail polish again

for my case i also have similar problem.. i realised or read from mag.. apply a base on the nails before putting the nail color.. it will protect the nails

What can you do if your nails get yellow in color?

This may sound weird, but dip them in mouthwash like Listerine or Scope! It kills bacteria, and depending on your skin type, it can turn your skin soft! It might take a while to get rid of the yellowness, but it will be worth it! Try to wear closed shoes less often! What can you do if your nails get yellow in color?
One reason your nails can get yellow is if you use any color nail polish that is not very light. Any deep pinks, reds, etc. will turn your nails yellowish. If you put a base coat on before you paint them it shouldn't happen. If that's not the reason then I'm not sure, but that is one thing that can cause it.

(And now I see that I probably should have checked if you were a guy or girl before I went ona bout nail polish, but hey, you never know.)What can you do if your nails get yellow in color?
U should go get that checked out, its probably nothing but there is a chance of fungus.
    1) Stop smoking

    2) Get checked for a fungal infection
first i will find out the reason

then i may take calciam tablets

    i may take french menicure

the yellownwss may be due to bad nail polish if i wear nail polish

It sounds like the polish turned your nails yellow. I seriously doubt its fungus. Make sure to use a good base coat before applying polish. That will help cut down on the yellowing of your nails. Why are my finger nails yellow!!!!?
u have unhealthy nails.. go to ur doctor.

stop polishing ur nail. it do make ur nail yellow..
It's prob. not an infection, but because you wear nail polish all the time. It happens to everyone if they wear it all the time. If it's your toe nails, I would just leave them be for the winter, because the yellow will go away if you leave it. :] good luck
all these people on top of me are stupid its not an infection and you don't need a doctor. It happened to me and a lot of other friends ...it could either be because the nail polish remover is cheap or you put too much of the bad nail polish on...it xauses your nails to look light yellowish. the only thing you can do it wait till the nails grows out than cut your nail
Fungus causes nails to yellow. You may have a mild infection, so see your doctor.
your finger nails are yellow because you wear way to much nail-polish. get clear nail-polish that says it is healthy for your nails. it might help. or you can go to a professional nail salon and they can help you but don't go to one just of the street.
Its fungus that is caused the yellow to show on your nails. Sometimes if you wear nail polish all the time, fungus can grow under your nails while you still have nail polish on you nails. There is a type of cream or medicine for it at Rite Aid. That stuff might help you. Sometimes it doesn't help but just try it and see what happens. Next time be careful!! I hope that helps you!
Use a good base before applying the polish. For now, you can gently use a buffer across the nails - keep moisturizing for the next week.

This discoloration is usually due to wearing darker colors on the nail, without a good base.

When having fake nails how do you keep them from turning yellow from tanning?

They have a UV protectant top coat; ask for it next time you get your nails done. If your salon is worth anything; they will have it.When having fake nails how do you keep them from turning yellow from tanning?
Your acrylics should not be effected by UV. Don't tell me you goto a mall salon and risk a place that uses MMA.When having fake nails how do you keep them from turning yellow from tanning?
    There are two things out there now;

    1. A clear UV Topcoat. Your salon may sell this or they can order it for you.

    2. Nail Covers. Again, your salon may sell these. They come in a set (one for each finger) and you slide them on before you tan. They cover only the tip of your finger where your nail is.
    wear gloves!
You should get your manicure/fill-in AFTER your tanning.

It will be a good way from overfrying yourself and keeping your skin cancer-free. You can only tan once every 2 weeks.
    Stop tanning.

No, seriously, stop it. If it turns your fakies yellow, what do you think it is doing to the rest of your body? I know YOU may think tanning looks good, but to those of us who no better, a healthy, non-cancerous look is best. Your body and your nails will thank you.
maintenance..as long as you get them done at the salon they work on them...n perty ify them.

What can you do if your nails get yellow in color?

first find out the reason for yellow nailsWhat can you do if your nails get yellow in color?
Soak in lemon juice for 10 - 15 minutes, otherwise try soaking them in organic apple cider vinegar for 10 - 15 minutes. Either remedy should give you great results !!

    PEACE

............. :0)What can you do if your nails get yellow in color?
I don't know but I would look in the mirror and make sure the whites of your eyes aren't yellow too. If they are you may have Jaundice which is high levels of biliruben in the body and is a sign of liver/kidney problems... which means go see a doctor quickly. If not paint them;)
Go to a beauty supply store (they don't have it at walmart or walgreens), and get this stuff called ';yellow stopper,'; it's in a bottle just like nail polish, and the top of it is bright yellow. Keep it on your nails, you can use it like a top coat. It should keep your nails from becoming yellow. One reason for the yellow is keeping nail polish on there too long. Another cool thing about ';yellow stopper'; is it makes your nails glow in black light.
I worked at a pool and got the dreaded yellow nails growing in one summer....

instead of taking the perscription that kills your liver I soak my feet/toe nails in white vinegar for a minute or two after I shower (while I am lotioning or blow drying my hair.). It is a pain but I noticed my nails growing in clear after a few months. It does take a long time, but it is a lot safer and less expensive than other options.
go to the doctor. You might need some vitamins as well.
they actually make a kind of nail polish [thats clear] that will take the yellow coloring off.

try that, you can find it at any local cvs or whatnot..

but if that doesnt fix it, stop by your doctors and have him take a look at it, he may need to prescribe you something a little bit stronger.

    hope that helps. =]
Soak in lemon juice, it always works.
try wiping them off with a cotton ball soaked in peroxide
    Eat jello.
try taking your nail polish off more often don't leave it on as much time
itz a bad omen tat yr nails are infected by virus..actually applyin nail enamels need some care to protect it..do apply base coat b4applyin enamel, apply top coat after applyin enamel..tiz will make the enamels lasts longer and yer protecting the cuticle of your nails..lemon is gd to the healthy cuticle growing of our nails.so,applyin some lemon juice on your every fingers as a simple finger-spa..

to stop yr yellowish nails, stop applying enamels now.apply the lemon juice to enhance healthy growing of your nails first.

I'm diabetic and my two of my toes on the same foot are turning blue. One of the nails is turning yellow.

When I bend my toe slightly, my foot starts to go numb, should I go to the hospital, the doctor, or just do nothing?? I haven't stubbed it, and I wear white socks, so it's not bruised or dye.I'm diabetic and my two of my toes on the same foot are turning blue. One of the nails is turning yellow.
If you have an endocrinologist, go and see them! Otherwise you may need to see a vascular surgeon.

These are signs of peripheral neuropathy and can be very serious.

I URGE you to see a doctor. But DO NOT DO NOTHING!I'm diabetic and my two of my toes on the same foot are turning blue. One of the nails is turning yellow.
GET TO YOUR DOCTOR NOW!!!!!! with being a diabetic, your feet are always at high risk dont mess around go today!!!!!
YOU NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!

It is possible that you have lost circulation to these toes, as sometimes happens with diabetes- it's why they tell you to take such good care of your feet. This can lead to serious problems- the tissue can die. You need to call you doctor and tell them you need to be seen TODAY. If he can't get you in, then you need to go to the emergency room. Take care.
oh my God, Get your self to Emergency room Now!Being Diabetic and Briusing is Bad,You may not have Blood going to toes and thats when Gangreen Can set in and the only thing for that is ampertate! I,m sure Your Not having that Problem,But Don,t wait and See!My mom died from Diabetics at age 52 yrs.old,sO-SO Young because we did not have Med. insurance and she would only go to Doctor when a emergencie Happened! Please Don,t make same mistake, get your self to Doctors!Good luck!Hollywood!
go to your doctor and tell him about it now

i lost my little toe from waiting to long.

this is a bad sign that infection is setting in and you could lose your toes as well.

    don't wait
How long have you been a diabetic? If you have just recently been diagnosed then I understand your question. Otherwise, You know dare well that the first thing a diabetic Specialist M.D. ask about and want to see if your feet. From my basic first aid experience blue coloring indicate blood-flow problems...the lack there of and yellow tone nails indicate fungi. GO! GO! GO! To your Diabetic Specialist and or Podiatrist.
Blood is not circulating to your foot. You will have to go to the hospital asap. Your doctor will tell you to go to the hospital. Chances are, if the doctors at the hospital can't get the blood circulating again to your foot, they might have to amputate the toes.
being diabetic you are a good candidate for being an amputee. get yourself to the doctor.
diabetis can cause a limitation of blood circulation , if you are diabetic you should know that taking extra ordinary care of your extremetis is vital to preven the possibility of gang green, which will cause the doctor to have to amputate in order to save your life . i've lived with diabetic friends my whole life , believe me don't wait go to the emergency room now, and i mean now !
The blue color is because you don't have enough blood circulating in your toes. The yellow is a toenail fungus. Diabetics often get that. But you must get to a doctor IMMEDIATELY about your toes.

    Good luck to you.
go to the doctor. this is nothing to fool around with... Diabetics can have a circulation problem and can lose appendages from this....
Tell the doctor for sure. I am a type II and have tingeling and swelling in the feet and hands as well. If you don't take care of those diabetic feet you could lose toes or even more. Stay in close touch with your doctor.
Call your Dr. My dad died because of Diabetes. It is a very mean disease... Good luck
Sweetie get to a hospital or Doctor ASAP!! That is not a good sign for a Diabetic.
If your regular doctor hasn't commented on this, change doctors at once. A large group will usually have somebody really up on diabetic side-effects.

This condition - the toe thing - must be attended to at once or you'll be learning to use a prosthetic leg.

    Please don't wait any longer.
I'd head to the doctor and/or hospital immediately. Numbness and discoloration is not something you should be asking in an internet site. Let medical people solve it.
Gangrene of toes is beginning. Get to doctor immediately.
its probably something really simple that is easily rectified but I would go and see your doctor straight away, especially with you being a diabetic. hope everything works out ok.
with out a doubt go get medical attention asap you did say your toes turning blue right.
You should definitely see a doctor. Foot care is extremely important for a diabetic.

If your foot starts to go numb you could have diabetic neuropathy.

If your toes are turning blue or black it could be a warning sign of gangrene, however if the nails are turning yellow it could be a sign of fungal infection.

It could also be gout which is a form of arthritis.

In any case see your doctor without delay.

    Well water=yellow finger nails?

i work in a dog kennel where the water is well water and i notice my usually not too bad looking nails are yellow/orange!! anybody have any suggestions on how to get rid of the color? i know as long as i'm working with the hard water it will come back, but maybe some tips on a nightly regimine?Well water=yellow finger nails?
I use well water and my fingernails are fine. Are you sure it's the water?Well water=yellow finger nails?
I personally never heard of well water causing yellow/orange fingernails. It sounds like you might have a fungus. I would suggest using an anti-fungi medication or seeing your doctor.

well i do put on nail polish ALOT! but if i put on nail polish now, will it get worse? Why is my nails turning yellow?

    soak them in lemon juice..

    brightens and strongens the nails

try the sally Hudson range of strengthening products

    and brightening...

apply them as a base coat then your nail polish...

try to use more expensive brand of nail polish maybe the ones you are using arent suiting your nails...
Usually, nail polish is absorbed by the nail, so if you don't put the clear base, then the nail will turn yellow. That's why they make the base; so it protects it, plus it makes the colour last longer.
sounds like a fungal infection in the nails.

could be the amount of nail polish, but if theyre staying yellow after a soak and scrub with nail polish remover u need to get curanail
um, clean your nails a little bit better?

Why do my nails have yellow on them.....?

i took my nail varnish off yesterday and this yellow stuff is on my nails, whats wrong with them?

what can i do to get rid of it?

    how did i get it?

if you know the answers thanks alotWhy do my nails have yellow on them.....?
Whenever you paint your nails you should always use a basecoat. Nail Polish deposits pigment onto your nail which makes it yellow after you remove the polish. It will go away if you buff it with a buffer (you can get this from any store that sells nail polish) or you could add a clear coat of basecoat. It will go away, but I would always use base coatWhy do my nails have yellow on them.....?

My acrylic nails have gone yellow?

I only had them done yesterday what would cause this, I have used fake tan and had my hands in cleaning agents but this has never happened before. My acrylic nails have gone yellow?
If your nails were just done yesterday and they have already turned yellow then it is most definitely something you have had your hands emmerged in. Fake tan will do it, so will cleaning agents. If this hasn't happened before then you were careful not to expose them too much or maybe the salon is now using a different kind of Acrylic? I strongly suggest you wear rubber gloves if you want to prolong the look of a recent manicure, especially if Acrylic is involved. Chemicals will not only make your nails turn yellow but also lift at the cuticles. This can cause further problems with moisture getting under the nail extention and growing a fungus . Acrylic nails are costly so make sure you take every precaution to make them last.My acrylic nails have gone yellow?
Mine always turned yellow because I smoked but it could have been something you ate with your fingers something tomatoy like pizza. There is a special coating they can put on your nails to keep them from turning yellow.
i used to get this whenever i went on a sunbed i found out it was something they put into the cream you apply before a sunbed
Yes, this can happen sometimes. Have you been getting less calcium in your diet recently? Sounds like a silly question but sometimes calcium can stop your nutrients from leeching out. If you've been having less then you may experience this as calcium can repel acrylic (which has a plastic base). The same same thing has happened with some of our customers before.

Any way, if you try rubbing some vinigar or lemon juice on them (both are acidic) then your nails will be fine.

It's strange when you know how all of these cosmetic products can affect your body and how much your diet can affect things.

    Good luck!
It's probably the nails that they put on. Their materials could be old. And is this the first time they were put on, or did you just get a filling? Usually after a filling they can turn yellow. I would get them taken off and go to another nail salon.
acrylic nails can turn yellow from cigarettes cuz when you hold one, it stains your fingers, etc. well this is one of the reason why your nails could have turned yellow but other than that, im not sure
Well, you may want to go back to the nail shop, tell them what happened and have them remove the acryllic nails... its probably just a little infection... well thats the bad news... the good news is... it could just be that silly tanning lotion that you had used... and it darkened ur nails just a little... its nothing to worry about tho... you will be a ok.. take the nails off tho... or if u really dont want to... us alcohol... not fingernail polish remover.. that will really mess up the nail color... but if u dont care about the color... like polish i mean... use the remover...

    BrownSugar SO Sweet! Good Luck!
go back and have her fix them. You pay a lot for acrylics.
Get rid of the acrylic nails.

Your nails can not breath with those things on and your nails will only become weaker and weaker as long as you wear them. Plus, the chemicals they use and have in them are not good for you.
I would call the place that you had them done and ask them. They may know why and give you an answer. Other than that I would try bleach.
Acrylic nails will most likely turn yellow when tanning-either if you are fake baking or using spray tan. The key is to get solar nails. These don't turn yellow from uv rays, and also last a lot longer.
Most likely it's the exposure to the tanning lotion in combination with the cleaning solutions in conjunction with a poorly mixed solution of the acrylic nail solution. Take your hands back to the nail salon.
IT HAS HAPPEND TO ME MANY OF TIMES I DONT KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT BUT IF YOU HAVE A SOFT BUFFER THAT WILL TAKE THE YELLOW COATING OFF.IT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPEND THIS SOON SO I WOULD PERSONALLY GO BACK TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU HAD THEM DONE.
did u go to a new nail place? did u smoke? mayb u have a finger fungus or something.
its the fake tan it has stained ure nails if its just a fench manicure style set u have on take the top coat of nail varnish off with acetone free nail varnish remover, if still yellow go back to her and get her to buff them down and put another layer on! x

Why do nails turn yellow when we wear nailpaint 4 a long time?

your nails need oxygen too. If they are covered in paint too long they will start to die.Why do nails turn yellow when we wear nailpaint 4 a long time?
Nail polish cut off the oxygen supply to the nails and they turn yellow after repeated applications. Why do nails turn yellow when we wear nailpaint 4 a long time?
nail polish seals the nail's ability to 'breath' - nails need oxygen to stay healthy
They cannot breathe because the paint is covering up their ability to.
Nails are porous and you need to apply clear nail base before applying colors.
That's why when you wear tips they can't breathe. Your nail turns yellow and it gets soft. Be sure to take this in to consideration when wearing polish or tips.

before you put base on it,first buff your nails to scrub of that yellow and dry cells and humps, then put base on itMy finger nails are real yellow and i do wear a base coat can anyone help me with this?
actually i beliveve yellow fingernails is a sign of yellow nail syndrome and you should talk to a doc its affects the lymphatic system

Why do nails get yellow when you don't remove your nailpolish for long? how to get rid of this yellowness?

It's because the nail is porous and will absorb small amounts of the color pigments in the darker polishes.

You can lightly buff this discoloration away with a very fine sanding block, you will need to apply a base coat with UV protectant to your bare nails before applying another color polish to prevent this from happening again..Why do nails get yellow when you don't remove your nailpolish for long? how to get rid of this yellowness?
it is because they are not getting any oxygen, try to scrub them with remover first then a lemon they should get lighter, but put on a primer first so this doesn't happen, they make plenty of non yellowing nail color out there. Why do nails get yellow when you don't remove your nailpolish for long? how to get rid of this yellowness?
Take off your nail polish and let your toenails breathe, then next time you put nailpolish on put a base coat on first.
you should use an undercoat so then your nails wont go yellow, if you use a too darker colour on your nails then it will stain them
i have no idea im so sorry

but i happens to me aswell

dont put nail polish on for a week or so and clean them with soap helped with mine

How can I clean my yellow nails?

No it's not a fungus, they should be perfectly healthy, they're washed all the time, er, whenever I need to. My older brother, though, has been a smoker since however long I can remember, all the time. I don't know if it might be because of that or something. but is there any hope of saving my nails? lol Yes i'm a guy, and I'm only asking seeing as I ';need'; to grow my fingernails on my right hand (play the ukelele). So I was just wondering if any ladies or guys here could help me make my nails pretty lmao.

And by finger nails I don't mean the whole thing, just the part that extends past the skin. How can I clean my yellow nails?
you definitely need to get rid of fungus!

for me worked very well ZetaClear! I think it is the fastest way to get rid of fungus! Nail fungus is tough to treat. The extracts in Zetaclear provide the most powerful therapeutic effect for healthy looking nails.

Obviously, you can't spray herbicide on your feet or hands! The next best thing is Zetaclear. It's made from all-natural homeopathic ingredients. This product works time after time and results are guaranteed. This extra strength solution is designed to be as aggressive and strong as possible, without causing irritation.

It worked fast and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry ZetaClear but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.zetaclear.com/?aid=749165How can I clean my yellow nails?
take lemons and squeeze them to make FRESH lemon juice. you must use fresh for this to work. dip your nails in for 15 - 30 min rinse and repeat every day/ it helps the yellow go away
You can buy a nail buffer. There are a few types but you'd be wanting the white coarse one. You just gentle buff the nail with it and it removes any yellow staining.
go to the salon or get the white tip pen that you can color under the nail where it extends past the skin.
your brothers fingers would go yellow not yours!!! so its not your bro smoking!. idk what it is just wash it!
soak in lemon juice if that doesnt work, go to a salon
Well, to begin with, you can't only grow the white bit. You need to get yourself to a manicurist, as girly as it sounds, that's probably you're best option. From then on, make sure you wash your hands all the time, and your nails. Nails are often forgotten when you wash your hands, so use a nail brush, or an old toothbrush. Its up to you, but if you'd like to keep them strong, as well as long, you should consider using a clear top lacquer, such as Sally Hansen's Triple Strong. I use that, and it works amazingly well. I hope I've helped you a bit, and good luck =]

The reason and treatment for yellow nails...?

I've got yellow toenail tips. I wear nail polish on my toenails every day for 5-6 months a year (months when the weather is warm and I can wear open toe shoes), and then I don't use nail polish during the rest of the year. Yet in those 6 months my toenails don't grow enough to get rid of the yellowish color. Or so I think! I mostly use white nail polish, and when I wear dark or red colors, I don't keep it on for very long. I've researched it and I don't think the yellowish color is because of fungus, as my nails are soft and they look shiny and healthy, with yellowish color only at the tips. I don't think it's the stain of dark colors either, since it won't go away even after months. Could it be because my nails get no air under the polish for such a long time? Does anyone have ideas how to get rid of this? The reason and treatment for yellow nails...?

Try a little household bleach. Use a cotton swab to apply. Then wash off with warm water. Wash hands with soap after. If you don't like bleach, try lemon juice or vinegar. These are milder and not as effective.

Try washing your dishes with a little bit of bleach in the water, that will do it.Or just soak them in bleach.thanks for 2.
You usually have to wash your hands after applyin, but I found that nail polish remover also works, well, but it is not recommended on the skin. I also found some tips here!

What color should i paint my nails if my dress is light yellow?

French Mani style. What color should i paint my nails if my dress is light yellow?
Depends on the occasion and the style and colour of the dress. If it is a very fancy dress for prom or something, clear or a french manicure. But if it is for a party, or it is more of a summer dress maybe you should clash it with hot pink nail polish (only if you have short nails, though! Long nails with bright colours just look tacky.)

But a french manicure is a safe bet as it looks neat and elegant with everything. What color should i paint my nails if my dress is light yellow?
A yellow dress would look very nice with white nail polish. White and yellow together make a nice combination.
First give yourself a manicure, then paint them clear. Yellow is a very bright color and you don't want to overdo it.

How can i stop my nails from turning yellow?

i have fake nails, and they look really pretty for about a week, but then they turn yellow. any suggestions? How can i stop my nails from turning yellow?
wearing dark nail polish can be the answer. Darker color polish can cause a chemical reaction between the nail polishes coloring agent and the nail plate, according to nail queen Sally Hansen. This can happen in a matter of days or weeks of wearing the nailcolor. If you love your darks, but don't like the yellow-look, use a light buffer to rid nails of yellowness and use a base coat rich in vitamins to reduce the yellowing of nails.

How can i stop my nails from turning yellow?
It might be because of what you come in contact with/ do with your hands. Try putting a clear base and top coat on/ polish your nails and you won't notice the yellow color.

File your nails regularly. Always keep a filer close by. If you are starting to realize one of your nails are chipping or you have a hang nail, just file it away. Filing leaves your nails smooth with a nice soft tip.

Paint your nails regularly. Painting your nails will help you so you do not keep biting your nails causing them to grow very short and chip off easily.

    Treating Yellow Nails

Dab your nails with nail polish remover. This should take some of the yellowness away. To apply, use cotton balls or make up pads; either will work fine. Not all the yellow will come off, but some of it will.

Wash your hands. Use soap, water, and a washcloth. Wash your hands with soap and water, put soap on the washcloth, open and close the washcloth until the soap is pressed into the cloth. Then, rub your nails with the washcloth. You will notice some yellow coming off your finger nails.

    Tips

Try to get a friend or a family member to help you.

Foam soap usually works the best in getting the yellow off.

    Warnings

Do not get fake nails from a beauty salon, they leave your nails very thin and easily breakable.

Do not use fake nails from places like Claire's or Icing's because when you use their special nail glue, it sticks to your nails for about 2 weeks leaving horrible looking dots.

Do not spill the nail polish; it has harsh and dangerous chemicals in it.
That nasty i mean everyone i know has white nails i mean wat do u do. i have perfect white nails. did u like pee on them because if u did u can just wash them off with soap. also, did u hear when u wash them with soap it actually cleans all the bad stuff that get on your nails which removes the yellow and opens the area to the white nails

My nails has grown yellow pl suggest me how to turn them white again?

If its a fungal infection, there isn't much you can do but to let them grow out. Treating a nail fungus with OTC medications is pretty much useless because they usually don't work very well, if at all. Prescription medications for this condition only work a small percentage of the time for most people, and it can take several months to begin to see the results. Even if prescription meds worked to heal the infection, there is always the chance that the fungus will return.

If the yellowing was caused by nail polish and is only on the surface of the nail - and not all the way through the nail, then you could try a few different things to help whiten and brighten them.

    - Buy some denture tablets. Follow the manufacturers instructions for dissolving them in water, then soak your nails in the solution for several minutes. You may need to repeat the process a few times for best results.

    - Get a small, shallow bowl and squeeze the juice out of a lemon into the bowl. Soak your nails in the lemon juice for a few minutes. Wash hands well when finished soaking. Repeat as often as necessary to maintain the whiteness and brightness.

    - Get a good quality nail buffer and gently buff the stains out. Buff only in one direction - up and down, not straight across and make sure you do this gently or you could damage your nails.

    - If the yellowing was caused by nail polish, use a good quality basecoat prior to applying the polish. This helps to avoid staining, especially with darker shades of nail polish.

I hope this helps! My nails has grown yellow pl suggest me how to turn them white again?
You mean from painting them right? There isn't anything you can do, just wait for them to grow out. Make sure you always put a clear base coat on before the polish or your nails will stain yellow. If it's not from nail polish I would suggest a call to your dr.My nails has grown yellow pl suggest me how to turn them white again?
