Yellow nails?

Is there anything they offer over the counter that works on yellow nails? I bit my nails until about a year ago, I finally broke my bad habit! Now that they're nice and long they are strating to turn a yucky yellow tint. I do not smoke.Yellow nails?
File your complete nail surfaces biweekly, not just the tips, and do it gently. Buy a nail buffer if you don't already own one, the one I have looks like a domino. After you finish filing, buff the surfaces so that your nails are really smooth. Then wash your nails clean, dry, and apply a top coat of clear nail polish. You can find clear polishes which also have vitamins in it or ones which can protect your nails if they are really weak and break easily. Stains can come from anything but if it continues to get darker, then it could be something internal that's causing it, and if that's the case, go get it checked.Yellow nails?
well did u paint your nails.

because if u did thats why they turned yellow

Yes.

About half the time, nails that are yellow, white, red, or any other unatural color are a result of infections. Common fungi can be found in the air, dust, and soil.

And what you have is most likley a common fungi.

There's tons of information online. (goggle, dogpile, yahoo, answers.com, ect.)

Hope I could help.
Sometimes yellow nails are caused by putting on nail polish too much. Try exfoliating your nails with a file, to get rid of the yellow layer of skin on top.
Yellow nails can be caused by vitamin deficiency. Try a few things...first try an over the counter multi-vitamin, then trim your nails to keep them cleaner and stop polishing them for a while. As they take a break and grow out a little, moisturize them. Hopefully the new nail growth will be healthier looking!
First of all, always put on a clear base coat before you put on your nail polish to make sure you dont get that yellow tint. Also, give your nails a break for a day every now and then without any nail polish so your nails can breathe and that will spare the yellowing. Sally Hansen sells a product, it looks like clear polish, and it is supposed to get rid of the yellowing. I have not tried it, I just let my nails breathe when that happens and it always goes away in a day.
Yellow-ish tinted nails are caused from using dark nail polish without a base coat. Dark polishes stain your nails yellow. To get rid of it, exfoliate your nails and rub raw lemons/lemon juice on them. And next time you wear dark nail polish (ie: black, purple, red) don't forget to use a base coat first!
