Getting acrylic nails done on wednesday. I will then be going on the sunbed for a few days this week (dont normally use them but going away sunday) will they turn my nails yellow. Is there anyway to avoid thisWill my nails go yellow?
If the acrylic is not UV stabilised it can turn yellow under the sunbed lights. When you get your nails done ask your therapist if its UV stabilised or ask for a UV topcoat. A lot of tanning salons sell UV topcoat but some just offer globs of vaseline to cover your nails with.
2 products that are useful if youre likely to use sunbeds with nails...the second link also makes nail removal and nail treats easy

No, nails do NOT need to 'breathe.' They are made of dead keratin cells. When was the last time you heard of something that was dead having a need to breathe, LOL! Besides, nails do not have lungs, or gills. And they don't exahange oxygen with carbon dioxide either. That is breathing...Nails don't 'breathe.
To answer your question, if you get really cheap nails - which are typically made from inferior acrylic products, then there is a good chance that they will yellow - sunbed or no sunbed. They will most likely tellow because of the crappy products they use in the cheap nail salons.
However, if you go to a higher end nail salon where they use top quality acrylic products - then your nails should be just fine. Acrylic product quality has a lot to do with whether they will yellow - or not, and also with how long they will last. Good products also look a heck of a lot better on your nails than the cheap stuff does.
no they shouldnt go yellow, staining by foots etc causes nails to go yellow or some diseases of the nails etc.
when you have your nails done do not let them file them using an electic file as it takes off too much of the nail and you can end up seriously damaging the natural nail and when the acrylics are removed it can cause very sore nails and infections if not careful.
The other day I read in the teenage girl magazie 'shout' , the story of a girl who got acrylic nails done and after a few days her nails started hurting so badly and that some chemical dissolved her nails off. so make sure that before you get your nails done you check whether they're using MMA or methyl methacrylate. but i don't know whether they'll go yellow...ask the beautitian.
I麓ve never hear of anything like that.
no it didnt hapen to me when i got mine done and i live in the south of spain right on the beach.
probably not but don't use sun beds you could get cancer or you'll end up all wrinkly.
i never knew that nails may go yellow cos of that
nail body needs to ';breathe';..if not the get yellow!

Whats the best way to get rid of my thick yellow narly toe nails, before i pull them out by the root?
Go to the podiatrist!Whats the best way to get rid of my thick yellow narly toe nails, before i pull them out by the root?
get your doctor to prescribe you an antifungal pill.. theres creams for that.Whats the best way to get rid of my thick yellow narly toe nails, before i pull them out by the root?
it sounds like you have a fungal infection under your toenails where the skin lies, you need to see a doctor, there is a medication that treats this and you should notice results in about a week, you could also talk to a pharmacist for more details.
That is almost always a fungal infection of the tissue underlying the nail bed. There are some good prescription medications for it; talk with your doctor about getting one.
IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE A FUNGAL PROBLEM. BEST IF YOU SEE A DERMATOLOGIST
eww fungus jkjk see the doc hope it works
I've been told you can cure the fungus by coating them with Vicks vapor rub every night. It takes a while.
First see your Dr. you may have a nail infection that can be treated with either an oral antibiotic or a topical.
Second, take care of them! Get regular pedis- a beauty school usually can do them for a cut rate by students who are learning - and they are generally just as good as if it was done by a pro salon. :)
Good luck
It's a fungal infection. You need to get on meds in order to get rid of it. Unfortunately, pulling them out won't help. They'll just grow back the same way.
go take a chainsaw to those nasty azz thangz. i bet they look like petrified potato chips!!!
There's a medication that you take by mouth called Lamisil. You take it for 3 months and your toenails fix themselves!! It's quite amazing. But you need a prescription from your doc. :)

My yellow finger nails......liver problems??
ok so my finger nails are yellow. i do wear red polish...did this do the yellowness? or could it possibly be liver problems in which i have had abnormal liver enzymes lately and have chronic stomach and lower back problems? im a mess.....any answers would maybe give me somewhere to start looking............no smart asses please :)My yellow finger nails......liver problems??
I tend to agree with ';Ashley';. Nail polish, no matter what the color, can stain and yellow fingernails. Remove the polish and soak your nails in a bleach/water solution - 10% bleach, 90% water - for 10-15 minutes every time you manicure your nails. And, like ';Ashley';, I strongly recommend you use a base coat first to prevent future problems.
I can't address your other problems due to inadequate information and your nail problem is probably not a disease issue. My yellow finger nails......liver problems??
Red or dark nail polish can definitely cause nails to turn yellowish, it happens to me all the time! By using a base coat underneath it will help minimize the yellowness.
see a dematologist, they specialize in nails too.

Yellow toe nails?????
What causes it and what can i do to make it go away???Yellow toe nails?????
Fungus, needs medicine.
In the US, some 90% of yellow thick toe nails is caused by a underlying fungus called onychyomycisis. This is usually deep in the nail tissue, sometimes in the nail bed. As such, ordinary topical medicines will not work well.
In recent years, doctors have taken to prescribing a pill form of lamisil for 4 week to 6 month periods to kill this fungus. This works some 80% of the time. Why so long? Well, like I said, it's deep in the tissue. Now, if your doctor wants to try this, you should get regular blood tests, since sometimes the medicine damages the liver. Some doctors will try the lamisil empirically [ie -- a s test trial] but others will insist on growing fungal cultures first.
What doctors often don't tell you is to kill lingering fungus in your shoes as well. Wear only clean scoks, and clean your shoes by placing 2 tablespoons of chlorine bleach in 1/2 gallon warm water. Dip a white cloth in this, wring it out, and wipe the insides of all your shoes once a week, being careful to air dry before wearing them again. This reduces the risk of re-infection.
There was a study done about 15 years ago, and if you can't see a docotr you can try to self treat. Get the over the counter lamisil cream, and rub it in the nail bed 3 times a day for 12 weeks. This works about 50 to 70% of the time.
Once the fungus is dead, it takes 6 to 12 months to get decent looking toe nails again.
Granted, there are medical conditions that cause nasty toe nails, but really you need to see a doctor if the nails are really really nasty looking.
Good luck.Yellow toe nails?????
Sounds like fungus...
its caused by fungus under the nail, there are lots of expensive remedies, bit if you hold a hairdryer on high heat at the nails infected for 15 mins once a week it will clear, it does work not sure how but it does, you have to cover your other nails and toes with a towel , and watch you dont get burned..it causes the bacteria to die away with the heat ..takes about two months to grow the new clear nails
dirtyness
try taking a shower

What? yellow toe nails?
help whats wrong? What? yellow toe nails?
Sometimes they are just stained from nail polish if you are not using a base-coat. But most likely it is a nail fungus under your nails. Doctors will give you a pill to take to get rid of it. Over the counter medicines are hard to use since it needs to get under your nail. You may have picked it up anywhere if walking around bare foot. What? yellow toe nails?
eeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr your diseased:P lol only jokin every ones nails are like that if you dont cut them or if u had nail varnish on for a while
you could have a fungus but it's unlikly unless you go to a salon and sometimes their equipment isn't cleaned properly. But you probably had a dark nail polich on so your nails have sucked that up. Don't put any polish on them for a while and you can lighlty buff or file them this will help a little bit.

How to prevent yellow color on your nails?
If you smoke, stop.Put a coat of clear nail polish or a nail polish base coat before putting on dark, bright colours onto the nail. Its best to wear a base coat under any nail polish though. How to prevent yellow color on your nails?
Sally's does make a nail whitner that you buy in a tube and it comes with a nail brush and you can scrub your nails with that ...
I also sometimes add a small amount of bleach to my dishwater when I do dishes that helps the nails and it helps the dishes as well :)
Also, you can buy the stuff you soak dentures in and drop two tablets in warm water and soak your nails in there ....and take your nail brush and give them a scrub every now and then but soak them for about 10 or 15 minutes this should help...those are the things I have tried and do work for me and they are not expensive at all especially the bleach ....
Hope this was helpful ~~~
Good Luck ~~~How to prevent yellow color on your nails?
Nails tell a lot about your health so knowing what yellow nails indicates can be helpful. Here's a link that has a nail segment mentioning them:
http://www.theherbsplace.com/Hair_Skin_a鈥?/a>
Skip down to the nail section which is under Skin info.
You're either not putting a base coat on your nails before the colour or your drowning your cuticles with the nail polish. You should leave thin gap between your nail and the cuticle and go without nail polish 1 day a month so they can breathe.
Quit smokingeye

Nails stained yellow from polish?
My nails are stained slightly yellow and I think it's from polish. I don't have any infection or anything and I look after my feet but I sometimes wear dark polish. Polish remover won't remove the stains and so I was wondering if you knew anything that would? Thanks xNails stained yellow from polish?
Well, I used to get that too but then I started using a clear base coat under my colored polish and it stopped discoloring my nails. Sally Hansen makes a great one that can also be used as a top coat to make your polish last longer. I think it's called something like ';Double Duty'; (Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart) for under $5.00. Good luck!Nails stained yellow from polish?
First, get a small bowl of water, add a splash of hydrogen peroxide and soak your nails for 10 minutes. This will mildly (and very gently) bleach away the discoloration. Then to get those harder-to-get-to stains, grab a nailbrush and some whitening toothpaste and rub briskly across your nails for a few minutes before rinsing with water.
it's normal, it's from the polish, let your nails breathe for a while and it should get better. Or try getting a professional pedicure with a light colored polish, they should be able to fix it. Good luck
I would always get that from red nail polish. I would just paint them a different color and the nixt time i took off that color it would be gone. Nothing really seems to take the stain away. Good luck!
All you need to do is leave your polish off for a while. You will see the stains but eventualli it wil go away x
